What is ICL eye surgery?

Implantable Collamer Lens or ICL is a new intraocular lens that can be implanted into the eye without removing the natural lens. This lens is an excellent choice for patients with short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism.

The ideal age bracket for ICL candidates typically falls between 21 and 45 years. This is primarily because refractive errors are most likely to have settled during this period. The individual's vision prescription must be stable for at least a year before the procedure.

ICL surgery is long-lasting, with the lenses lasting the remainder of your lifetime. Still, the natural ageing process may weaken close vision as you get older, meaning there is the chance you will need glasses or additional vision correction at a later date if you want to be glasses-free.
